GSD Automation
06 / What we build

Special-purpose machines and lines, from concept to a complete documented machine.

When the job is bigger than a single station, we take it from the first concept to a complete, tested and documented machine or line, with one team responsible throughout.

What we build

GSD Automation designs and builds special-purpose machines and production lines for manufacturers across the island of Ireland. These are machines that do not exist in a catalogue: built for your product, your process and your plant.

  • Multi-station assembly machines on rotary or linear indexers
  • Heat sealing, pressing, forming and joining machines
  • Linked cells that run as one line
  • Full production lines with inspection, test and packing
  • Upgrades and retrofits of existing special-purpose machines

How a machine project runs

We start with the production problem, your output target and the constraints of the site. A concept design is reviewed with you before detail design starts, so the layout, cycle and operator interaction are agreed early. Detail design, build, programming and testing follow in our workshop, and the machine is run against the acceptance criteria agreed in the proposal before it ships.

One team, start to finish

Mechanical design, electrical design in SolidWorks Electrical, PLC, HMI and robot programming, build, testing, installation and commissioning are done in-house. That means one point of contact, no hand-offs between suppliers, and a machine designed as one system rather than assembled from separate contracts.

Documentation and acceptance

Machines are designed with CE requirements in mind, with the documentation included agreed as part of each project. A factory acceptance test with your team can be arranged before delivery, and site acceptance after installation is agreed in the same way. The proposal states the drawings, manuals and records you receive.

Questions we are asked

How big a job can you take on?+

From a single multi-station machine to a linked line with several cells. If a project is beyond our capacity we say so at the start, rather than part way through.

Do you modify or upgrade existing machines?+

Yes. Extra stations, new guarding, control upgrades and retrofits to existing special-purpose machines are a regular part of our work. We survey the machine first and agree the scope and any downtime with you.

What do you need from us to start?+

The production problem, a description of the product, the output you need and any space or process limits. Drawings, samples or a short video of the current process help. You do not need a finished specification to start the conversation.
